Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

When people think of China they almost always think of Pandas.  Giant pandas are only found in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces in China. It is estimated that 2,000 giant pandas live in the wild and 70% of them live in Sichuan Province.
We wanted to make sure my parents saw giant pandas on their visit so we went to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding. The center has built natural habitats for pandas to live and breed in. At the center we were able to see ten baby pandas. Some were just born and had no hair, while others were black and white and cute.
Besides housing pandas, the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding also houses other endangered animals such as: red pandas, black necked cranes, and storks.

There was a fun museum and learning center that had books, displays of information about pandas and interactive activities for visitors. My kids loved recording their impersonations of a panda and having it compared to a pandas real roar.
